Parepare – Dalam rangka memeriahkan Hari Ulang Tahun (HUT) Republik Indonesia yang ke-79, Dinas Kepemudaan, Olahraga, dan Pariwisata Kota Parepare bekerja sama dengan Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI) menggelar turnamen bulutangkis berskala besar bertajuk *Wali Kota Cup*.
Turnamen ini diikuti oleh 350 peserta, yang berkompetisi dalam total 175 pertandingan. Turnamen ini terdiri dari dua kategori, yaitu perorangan putra dan perorangan putri. Acara ini diselenggarakan di Gedung Mario Pulana, Jalan Lasiming, dan akan berlangsung selama tujuh hari, mulai dari tanggal 9 hingga 15 Agustus.
Kepala Dinas Kepemudaan, Olahraga, dan Pariwisata, HM Iskandar Nusu, mengungkapkan bahwa turnamen ini merupakan bagian dari rangkaian kegiatan peringatan HUT RI yang diselenggarakan oleh Pemerintah Kota Parepare melalui dinas yang dipimpinnya.
“Rangkaian ini selain merangsang pembinaan dan minat olahraga sekaligus juga untuk memeriahkan HUT RI ke-79,” jelas Iskandar.
Turnamen Wali Kota Cup ini diharapkan dapat menjadi ajang yang positif untuk meningkatkan minat dan prestasi di bidang olahraga bulutangkis, serta menjadi bagian dari upaya untuk mempererat persatuan dan semangat kebangsaan di kalangan masyarakat Parepare.
