Pemain asing PSM, Victor Luiz, juga menyampaikan optimisme menghadapi laga krusial ini. Menurutnya, laga besar seperti inilah yang selalu ditunggu pemain untuk membuktikan kualitas.
“Besok kita akan menghadapi lawan yang kuat. Tapi ini adalah kesempatan penting bagi kami untuk bangkit dan meraih kemenangan. Kami harus lebih fokus, lebih bertenaga, lebih kuat. Karena besok bisa menjadi momentum yang bagus untuk menemukan kembali jalan kemenangan,” ujar Luiz.
Namun di balik persiapan laga, Tavares secara terbuka mengungkapkan problem besar yang tengah membayangi PSM Makassar, keterlambatan pembayaran gaji pemain dan staf. Menurutnya, hal tersebut memengaruhi fokus tim di lapangan.
“Sulit untuk 200 persen fokus pada sepak bola jika ada staf saya yang sampai tidak bisa makan malam karena belum dibayar. Beberapa sudah menunggak dua sampai lima bulan. Ini tidak seharusnya terjadi di sepak bola profesional,” tegas Tavares dengan nada emosional.
Pelatih asal Portugal itu bahkan menyebut dirinya hampir frustrasi dengan kondisi yang dialami, namun ia tetap berkomitmen mendampingi tim.
“Saya berada di sini sejak musim pertama, selalu mencoba memberi yang terbaik. Saya jauh dari keluarga, tapi saya memilih bertahan karena ingin membantu tim ini melewati masa sulit. Kami butuh dukungan penuh dari suporter untuk bangkit,” tambahnya.

Tavares pun mengajak para pendukung PSM agar tetap setia mendampingi tim. Menurutnya, kebersamaan antara pemain, staf, dan suporter akan menjadi kunci keluar dari masa sulit.
“Ketika menang, semua terasa mudah. Tapi saat kalah atau berada di situasi sulit seperti ini, kita harus tetap bersama. Saya percaya dukungan suporter akan menjadi energi besar untuk tim besok,” tutup Tavares.
PSM Makassar sendiri saat ini baru mengoleksi tiga poin dari empat laga awal liga. Pertandingan selanjutnya akan menjadi ujian berat untuk membuktikan mental juara di tengah keterbatasan yang ada.
