Upacara pembukaan berlangsung khidmat dan meriah, dihadiri oleh berbagai unsur Forkopimda dan tamu undangan.
Tampak hadir Dandenpom XIV/2 Kota Parepare, Wakapolres Parepare, perwakilan Danbrigif 11/BS, Dandim 1405/Parepare, Batalyon Brimob Pelopor, serta Ketua Askot PSSI Kota Parepare, IPDA Ahmad Arbi Agus.
Dalam amanatnya, Wali Kota Parepare Tasming Hamid menyampaikan apresiasi terhadap pelaksanaan turnamen tahunan ini yang dinilai menjadi ajang positif bagi pembinaan olahraga, khususnya sepak bola di Parepare.
“Aspom Cup bukan hanya sekadar kompetisi, tetapi juga wadah silaturahmi, sportivitas, dan pembinaan bakat-bakat muda pesepak bola di Parepare. Saya berharap kegiatan ini terus dilestarikan dan mencari bibit muda Persipare, serta menjadi kebanggaan bagi masyarakat,” ujar Tasming Hamid dalam sambutannya.
Tasming juga menekankan pentingnya menjunjung tinggi sportivitas dan kebersamaan di setiap pertandingan. Menurutnya, semangat olahraga sejati adalah tentang persaudaraan dan fair play, bukan sekadar kemenangan.
Sementara itu, Ketua Panitia Pelaksana Aspom Cup 5, Wawan menjelaskan bahwa turnamen tahun ini diikuti oleh 16 klub yang akan bertanding dalam sistem babak penyisihan selama kurang lebih delapan hari.
“Kami berharap kegiatan ini berjalan lancar dan mampu melahirkan pemain-pemain potensial yang bisa mengharumkan nama Parepare di kancah yang lebih tinggi,” ujar Wawan.
Senada dengan itu, Ketua Askot PSSI Kota Parepare, IPDA Ahmad Arbi Agus, menegaskan bahwa kegiatan seperti Aspom Cup sangat penting dalam menjaga eksistensi dan semangat sepak bola di tingkat lokal dan dasar.
“Askot PSSI Parepare akan terus mendukung kegiatan positif seperti ini. Melalui turnamen ini, kita ingin melihat tumbuhnya semangat kompetisi yang sehat dan menemukan bibit atlet yang kelak bisa membawa nama Parepare di ajang provinsi maupun nasional,” tegas Ahmad Arbi.
Turnamen Aspom Cup ke-5 ini diharapkan menjadi momentum memperkuat geliat sepak bola lokal, mempererat sinergi antara masyarakat, aparat, dan pemerintah, serta menumbuhkan semangat persatuan melalui olahraga.
