Notifedia.com, Parepare – Urban Infrastructure Resilience (UIR) dan Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah Kota Parepare menggelar kegiatan sosialisasi dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Aula Kantor Kecamatan Soreang, Rabu (2/7/2025). Kegiatan ini mengusung tema menarik: “Dari Dapur ke Dinding: Transformasi Limbah Jadi Material Konstruksi”.
Sosialisasi ini dipimpin langsung oleh Ir. Evi Aprianti S., ST., Ph.D, selaku Ketua Tim, yang juga menjadi narasumber utama dalam kegiatan tersebut. Kegiatan ini merupakan tahap pertama dari rangkaian program pengabdian masyarakat yang fokus pada pemanfaatan limbah domestik, khususnya anorganik, menjadi material konstruksi yang bernilai guna dan bernilai ekonomis.
Dalam pemaparannya, Ir. Evi menjelaskan bahwa limbah domestik seperti plastik, kertas, sterofoam, dan kertas minyak dapat diolah menjadi mortar yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat pot bunga, paving block, plasteran, dan berbagai bentuk material bangunan lainnya. Menurutnya, langkah ini tidak hanya berkontribusi terhadap kebersihan lingkungan, tapi juga membuka peluang pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat.
“Sebanyak 87% bencana lingkungan disebabkan oleh sampah plastik yang tidak terurai dengan baik. Jika tidak ditangani, limbah ini bisa menyumbat saluran air dan memicu genangan hingga banjir,” tegas Ir. Evi.
Kecamatan Soreang menjadi mitra awal dalam pelaksanaan program ini, di mana masyarakat setempat akan dilibatkan langsung dalam proses pengolahan dan pemanfaatan limbah tersebut. Kegiatan ini disambut antusias oleh warga, yang terdiri dari perwakilan RT, RW, tokoh masyarakat, tokoh agama, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, dan staff kecamatan.
Turut hadir dalam kegiatan ini Camat Soreang Awaluddin, S.Pd, yang menyampaikan dukungan penuh terhadap program pengabdian ini. Ia mengapresiasi keterlibatan akademisi dalam upaya konkret mengatasi persoalan sampah sekaligus mendorong inovasi pembangunan berbasis lingkungan.
“Kami sangat mendukung kegiatan ini. Inovasi seperti ini perlu terus digalakkan agar masyarakat bisa melihat langsung manfaat dari pengelolaan sampah yang bijak dan berkelanjutan,” ungkap Camat Awaluddin.
Selain itu, Kapolsek Soreang AKP Amir Usman, SE dan perwakilan Danramil 02/1405 juga turut hadir dalam acara tersebut sebagai bentuk sinergi lintas sektor dalam mendukung upaya pemberdayaan dan edukasi masyarakat.
Dengan semangat kolaboratif antara perguruan tinggi, pemerintah, dan masyarakat, kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu menjadi model bagi wilayah lain dalam mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan melalui pendekatan yang kreatif dan berkelanjutan.
