Parepare – Dalam upaya menjaga kesiapan menghadapi bencana alam yang semakin meningkat seiring dengan pergantian musim, terutama akibat fenomena El Nino, Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Kota Parepare terus menggiatkan langkah-langkah preventif.
Pelaksana Tugas (PLT) Kepala Pelaksana (Kalak) BPBD, Muhammad Rasdy Gery Runtu, Mengajak anggotanya untuk meninjau titik-titik rawan bencana, terutama banjir. Jum,at (5/7/24).
Dalam beberapa minggu terakhir, intensitas curah hujan yang tidak merata dan peningkatan suhu udara yang signifikan telah menjadi indikator awal dari dampak El Nino.
Fenomena cuaca ini diketahui dapat menyebabkan berbagai bencana, termasuk banjir yang berpotensi menimbulkan kerugian besar baik dari segi materi maupun korban jiwa.
“Kita harus tetap waspada dan siap siaga menghadapi segala kemungkinan. Oleh karena itu, hari ini dan perdana menjabat sebagai PLT saya mengajak anggota BPBD untuk melakukan pemantauan dan identifikasi titik-titik rawan banjir yang ada di wilayah Kota Parepare,” kata Rasdy dalam wawancara.
Ada 8 titik yang kita kunjungi hari ini, Titik 1 BTN Savaras, Titik 2 Jawi-jawi, Titik 3 SMA 5, Titik 4 Tegal 1, Titik 5 Tegal 2, Titik 6 Salo Karamae, Titik 7 Taman palem dan Titik 8 Jembatan Lapadde Residen.
“Jadi di ke 8 titik yang kita kunjungi dan pantau ini memang potensinya sangat besar menimbulkan banjir. Bayangkan bangunan-bangunan yang ada devploper-devploper yang sudah mengembanhkan usahanya itu rata-rata berada pada bantaran sungai yang mana tidak memenuhi syarat.” Ujarnya.
Lanjutnya bahwa di titik itu juga terlihat menipisnya atau menyempitnya saluran sungai akibat sedimen dan terkikisnya tanah yang berada di pinggiran bantaran sungai.
“Ini kemungkinan besar perlu kerja keras dan kerja sama yang baik dari beberapa pihak terkait, termasuk pemerintah daerah, dinas terkait, serta masyarakat setempat. Menurutnya, keterlibatan aktif semua pihak dalam upaya mitigasi bencana sangat krusial untuk meminimalisir dampak yang ditimbulkan terutama bagi para pengembang yang mana memang perlu untuk mendapatkan rekomendasi khusus dari Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah.”
Selain pemantauan lapangan, kita juga di BPBD telah menyiapkan berbagai langkah antisipasi lainnya, seperti peningkatan kapasitas sarana dan prasarana penanggulangan bencana, pelatihan bagi tim reaksi cepat, serta penyebarluasan informasi terkait potensi bencana kepada masyarakat.
Kesiapan kita dalam menghadapi bencana bukan hanya tanggung jawab pemerintah atau BPBD saja, tetapi juga seluruh elemen masyarakat.
“Kami mengajak masyarakat untuk selalu waspada, mengikuti informasi resmi, dan aktif dalam upaya mitigasi bencana,” tambah Rasdy Gery.
Dengan berbagai langkah yang telah diambil, BPBD berharap dapat mengurangi risiko dan dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh bencana banjir, sehingga keselamatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat dapat tetap terjaga meskipun menghadapi tantangan cuaca yang ekstrem.
