Kegiatan ini dilepas langsung oleh Wali Kota Parepare, H. Tasming Hamid, yang turut didampingi Pelaksana Harian (Plh) Sekretaris Daerah, Amarun Agung Hamka.
Pawai tahun ini diikuti oleh berbagai organisasi Islam, seperti Badan Komunikasi Pemuda Remaja Masjid Indonesia (BKPRMI), Majelis Taklim, dan sejumlah elemen masyarakat lainnya.
Hadir pula jajaran Forum Koordinasi Pimpinan Daerah (Forkopimda) serta seluruh unsur Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD) Pemkot Parepare.
Dalam sambutannya, Wali Kota Tasming Hamid menyampaikan rasa syukur dan kebahagiaannya atas semarak dan semangat umat Islam Parepare dalam menyambut tahun baru hijriah.
“Kami apresiasi kegiatan ini. Kami juga sangat bersyukur dan berterima kasih atas partisipasi serta kehadiran para peserta pawai yang penuh semangat, khususnya para majelis taklim,” ujar Tasming.
Tasming juga mengungkapkan bahwa peringatan tahun baru Islam kali ini semakin bermakna karena Pemerintah Kota Parepare sebelumnya telah menggelar sejumlah kegiatan religius, seperti zikir bersama di Masjid Raya dan Tabligh Akbar di Lapangan Andi Makkasau yang menghadirkan dai kondang, Ustadz Das’ad Latif.
“Mudah-mudahan penyelenggaraan menyambut tahun baru Islam di tahun-tahun berikutnya dapat lebih meriah lagi. Dan yang paling penting, bagaimana kita mampu memperkuat nilai-nilai spiritual kita dan meningkatkan keimanan serta ketakwaan kepada Allah SWT,” pungkas Tasming.
Sementara itu, Plh Sekda Parepare, Amarun Agung Hamka mengatakan pawai 1 Muharram di Parepare tidak hanya menjadi ajang silaturahmi antarwarga, tetapi juga momentum refleksi untuk memperkuat nilai-nilai keislaman dan kebersamaan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat.
“Pemerintah Kota Parepare tentu menaruh harapan besar agar perayaan semacam ini terus menjadi tradisi religius yang memperkuat identitas kota sebagai daerah yang religius dan harmonis,” ungkap Hamka.
