Menurutnya, ajang ini bukan sekadar kompetisi, melainkan juga bukti nyata kesiapan Parepare sebagai tuan rumah event olahraga bergengsi tingkat provinsi.
“Kota Parepare kembali menunjukkan kapasitasnya sebagai tuan rumah yang solid dan siap menggelar event besar. Dukungan dari pemerintah kota dan seluruh stakeholder olahraga menjadi faktor penting terselenggaranya Pra Porprov Pertina ini,” ujar Fadly Agoes Mante saat ditemui usai pembukaan kejuaraan.
Ia menambahkan, pelaksanaan event ini mempertegas komitmen KONI Parepare untuk terus mendorong peningkatan prestasi atlet daerah. Menurutnya, kejuaraan tinju seperti Wali Kota Cup juga menjadi ajang pembinaan bagi atlet muda lokal yang sedang naik daun.
“Dari kejuaraan inilah kita bisa melihat potensi atlet-atlet muda Parepare. Kami harap, ada yang mampu menembus level provinsi bahkan nasional. KONI akan terus memberikan dukungan penuh untuk pembinaan mereka,” tegasnya.
Fadly juga mengapresiasi kolaborasi antara Pertina Sulawesi Selatan dan Pertina Parepare yang sukses menghadirkan pertandingan dengan standar profesional, bahkan menghadirkan wasit dan juri internasional dari Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“Ini langkah maju. Artinya, Pertina dan Parepare ingin menjaga sportivitas dan kualitas pertandingan. Ini juga menjadi pembelajaran berharga bagi para atlet dan ofisial kita untuk melihat bagaimana sistem penilaian dan pertandingan berkelas internasional dijalankan,” tambahnya.
Lebih lanjut, Fadly menyampaikan terima kasih kepada Wali Kota Parepare, Tasming Hamid, atas dukungan penuh terhadap pengembangan olahraga di daerah. Ia menyebut, perhatian pemerintah menjadi modal besar bagi Parepare untuk terus berkembang sebagai kota olahraga di wilayah utara Sulawesi Selatan.
“Event Wali Kota Cup adalah simbol komitmen pemerintah daerah terhadap kemajuan olahraga. Ini bukan hanya soal kompetisi, tapi juga soal membangun semangat juang, mental sportif, dan kebanggaan daerah,” tutupnya.
Kejuaraan Pra Porprov Pertina Sulsel dan Wali Kota Cup Parepare 2025 diikuti oleh 187 atlet dari 18 kabupaten/kota. Event ini akan berlangsung selama beberapa hari, mempertemukan para petinju terbaik dalam 20 kelas pertandingan.
Selain menjadi ajang seleksi atlet menuju Porprov, kegiatan ini juga menjadi wadah silaturahmi antar-daerah serta penguatan budaya sportivitas dalam dunia olahraga tinju di Sulawesi Selatan.
