Notifedia, Parepare – Pj Wali Kota Parepare, Akbar Ali, memberikan kuliah umum di Kampus Institut Ilmu Sosial dan Bisnis Andi Sapada (IAS) pada hari Kamis, 16 Mei 2024. Kuliah umum ini mengusung tema “Peran Kepala Daerah Dalam Menyongsong Pemilukada Tahun 2024.”
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Akbar Ali membahas berbagai peran penting yang harus dimainkan oleh kepala daerah dalam menyongsong Pemilukada 2024.
Ia menekankan pentingnya integritas, transparansi, dan akuntabilitas dalam pemerintahan untuk memastikan proses pemilihan kepala daerah berjalan dengan jujur dan adil.
“Kepala daerah harus menjadi contoh dalam menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai demokrasi dan memberikan pelayanan terbaik kepada masyarakat. Kita harus memastikan bahwa Pemilukada 2024 nanti berjalan dengan lancar dan bersih dari segala bentuk kecurangan,” ujar Akbar Ali.
Selain itu, Akbar Ali juga menyoroti tantangan dan peluang yang akan dihadapi oleh pemerintah daerah menjelang Pemilukada.
Ia mengajak mahasiswa dan seluruh civitas akademika untuk berperan aktif dalam mengawal proses demokrasi, termasuk dalam memerangi hoaks dan meningkatkan literasi politik di masyarakat.
“Kita semua memiliki tanggung jawab untuk menjaga demokrasi. Mahasiswa sebagai agen perubahan harus berani menyuarakan kebenaran dan berpartisipasi aktif dalam proses politik, baik melalui pemantauan pemilu maupun penyebaran informasi yang benar,” tambahnya.
Kuliah umum ini dihadiri oleh ratusan mahasiswa dan dosen IAS yang antusias mendengarkan pemaparan Akbar Ali.
Acara ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan baru bagi para peserta mengenai pentingnya peran kepala daerah dalam menciptakan pemilu yang demokratis dan berkualitas.
Di akhir kuliah umum, Akbar Ali mengajak seluruh peserta untuk selalu berpegang pada nilai-nilai kejujuran dan integritas dalam setiap aspek kehidupan, khususnya dalam dunia politik dan pemerintahan.
“Kita harus menjadi generasi yang bertanggung jawab, yang mampu membawa perubahan positif bagi bangsa dan negara,” tutupnya.
