Acara ini berlangsung di Gor Lompoe Parepare dan turut dihadiri oleh Ketua Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) Parepare, perwakilan Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia (Perbasi), staf Disporapar, serta para peserta kompetisi. Rabu, (24/7/24).
Dalam sambutannya, Iskandar Nusu menyampaikan apresiasi dan semangat kepada semua pihak yang terlibat dalam penyelenggaraan kompetisi ini.
Beliau menekankan pentingnya olahraga sebagai sarana pemersatu bangsa dan cara yang efektif untuk mengembangkan potensi generasi muda.
“Kompetisi ini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk memeriahkan HUT Kemerdekaan RI, tetapi juga untuk menggali dan mengembangkan bakat para pemuda dalam bidang olahraga, khususnya bola basket. Semoga kegiatan ini dapat melahirkan atlet-atlet berprestasi yang dapat mengharumkan nama Parepare di kancah nasional maupun internasional,” ujar Iskandar Nusu.
Selain itu, Ketua KONI Parepare juga memberikan dukungan penuh terhadap kegiatan ini. Beliau berharap kompetisi ini dapat berjalan dengan sportif dan menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai fair play.
Kompetisi bola basket ini akan berlangsung selama beberapa hari ke depan dengan melibatkan berbagai tim dari wilayah Parepare dan sekitarnya.
Dalam kegiatan tersebut, sekitar 25 tim yang mengikuti turnamen itu. Terdiri dari 9 tim SMP dan 16 tim tingkat SMA. Para peserta sangat antusias mengikuti setiap pertandingan yang digelar.
Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi ajang untuk mempererat tali persaudaraan antarwarga dan meningkatkan semangat nasionalisme dalam menyambut HUT Kemerdekaan RI yang ke-79.
