Rombongan dipimpin Wakil Wali Kota Pagar Alam, Hj. Bertha. Peninjauan ini sebagai bagian dari studi tiru pengembangan produksi dan distribusi telur konsumsi.
Wakil Bupati Sidrap, Nurkanaah, yang sebelumnya menerima secara resmi rombongan di Kantor Bupati Sidrap, turun langsung dalam peninjauan tersebut.
Wakil Wali Kota Pagar Alam menjelaskan, kunjungan ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari praktik baik pengelolaan peternakan ayam petelur di Sidrap, yang telah lama dikenal sebagai sentra produksi telur terbesar di Indonesia Timur.
“Supaya nanti kami juga, Kota Pagar Alam, dapat menghasilkan telur sendiri dari ayam petelur seperti ini untuk kebutuhan kami,” tuturnya.
Ia mengatakan, pihaknya ingin mempelajari langsung sistem kandang, proses pemeliharaan ayam, hingga tata kelola distribusi hasil produksi.
Dalam peninjauan tersebut, rombongan mengunjungi peternakan ayam petelur milik salah satu pengusaha lokal yang memiliki populasi sekitar 70 ribu ekor ayam.
Wakil Bupati Sidrap, Nurkanaah, mengungkapkan bahwa Desa Tanete merupakan wilayah awal berkembangnya peternakan ayam petelur di Sidrap sejak 1980-an.
“Hari ini saya berkunjung di kandangnya di Tanete, Kecamatan Maritengngae, di sini itu tujuh puluh ribu ekor ayam petelur,” tuturnya.
Ia juga menjelaskan, sektor peternakan ayam telah menjadi sumber ekonomi utama masyarakat dan terus berkembang, termasuk penerapan sistem kandang tertutup (closed house) oleh sejumlah peternak besar.
Hadir dalam rombongan Pemkot Pagar Alam, Staf Ahli Wali Kota, Dedy Suryadi Lagoan, Kepala Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Perikanan, Jefri Zulfikar, serta Kepala Bidang Dinas Pertanian, Desy Rahmawati.
Sementara dari Pemkab Sidrap turut hadir Asisten Pemerintahan dan Kesra, Muhammad Iqbal, Kepala Dinas Peternakan dan Perikanan, Suharya Angriani, Kabag Kerja Sama, Andi Besse, dan Kabag Perekonomian, Rimba.
