Notifedia.com, Parepare – Lembaga Pemasyarakatan (Lapas) Kelas IIA Parepare menorehkan prestasi membanggakan dengan keberhasilan program ketahanan pangan yang dijalankan oleh para Warga Binaan Pemasyarakatan (WBP). Kamis, (10/4/25).
Dalam panen raya kangkung yang digelar di kebun organik Lapas, terlihat nyata hasil dari kerja keras dan kolaborasi lintas sektor dalam mewujudkan kemandirian pangan di balik tembok penjara.
Panen raya tersebut menjadi tonggak pencapaian dalam mendukung program nasional ketahanan pangan sebagaimana tercantum dalam Visi dan Misi Presiden RI tentang Asta Cita, 13 Program Akselerasi Menteri Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan, serta 21 Arahan dan Perintah Direktur Jenderal Pemasyarakatan.
Keberhasilan ini tak lepas dari dukungan Pemerintah Kota Parepare, terutama melalui Walikota Parepare H. Tasming Hamid, SE, MH, dan jajaran terkait seperti Dinas Ketahanan Pangan serta Dinas Pertanian, Kelautan, dan Perikanan (PKP).
Bantuan yang diberikan berupa bibit cabai, kangkung, terong, pepaya California, serta ikan air tawar jenis Nila dan Lele Sangkuriang, menjadi fondasi penting dalam pemberdayaan WBP.
Kepala Lapas Kelas IIA Parepare, Totok Budiyanto, A.Md.IP, SH, yang didampingi Kepala Seksi Kegiatan Kerja Abdullah, SH, M.Si, mengungkapkan bahwa kegiatan ini tidak hanya bertujuan memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi internal Lapas, namun juga sebagai sarana pembelajaran dan pembekalan keterampilan hidup bagi para warga binaan.
“Panen raya kangkung ini merupakan wujud nyata dari komitmen kami dalam menjalankan program ketahanan pangan nasional di Lapas Kelas IIA Parepare menindaklanjuti Visi dan Misi Presiden RI. Kami berharap kegiatan ini memberi manfaat berkelanjutan, baik secara ekonomi maupun psikologis bagi warga binaan,” ujar Totok.
Pemanfaatan lahan kosong dalam lingkungan Lapas menjadi titik terang bahwa keterbatasan ruang bukanlah halangan untuk berproduksi.
Melalui bimbingan dari penyuluh pertanian Dinas PKP Parepare, WBP dilatih dan diberdayakan untuk mengelola kebun secara berkelanjutan dengan pendekatan organik dan ramah lingkungan.
Lebih dari sekadar panen, keberhasilan ini diharapkan menjadi inspirasi bagi Lapas lainnya di Indonesia. Bahwa di balik jeruji besi, terdapat potensi besar yang bisa dikembangkan demi kemandirian dan pembinaan yang konstruktif.
Sebagai penutup, Totok Budiyanto menyampaikan apresiasi yang mendalam atas kontribusi seluruh pihak, khususnya Pemerintah Kota Parepare.
Ia menegaskan bahwa langkah strategis ini adalah implementasi nyata dari arah kebijakan nasional dalam reformasi sistem pemasyarakatan menuju pembinaan yang lebih humanis dan produktif.
“Langkah ini menunjukkan bahwa di balik tembok penjara, masih terbuka peluang untuk tumbuh, berubah, dan berkontribusi bagi ketahanan pangan dan kemajuan bangsa,” tutup Totok.
