MAKASSAR – Baru sehari setelah resmi menjabat, Wali Kota Parepare, H. Tasming Hamid, berhasil mempersembahkan penghargaan nasional bagi masyarakat Parepare. Penghargaan ini diberikan oleh Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa Kementerian Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah (Kemdikdasmen) atas dedikasi dalam pelestarian bahasa daerah.
Penghargaan tersebut diterima oleh Kepala Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Parepare, Makmur, yang mewakili Wali Kota Parepare dalam acara Seminar Nasional Bahasa Ibu di Ballroom Teater Menara Pinisi UNM, Makassar, pada Jumat (21/2/2025).
Penghargaan itu diserahkan langsung oleh Plt Kepala Balai Bahasa Provinsi Sulsel, Dewi Pridayanti, dan turut disaksikan oleh Konsulat Jenderal (Konjen) Australia, Mr. Todd Diaz.
Menurut Dewi Pridayanti, hanya ada dua daerah di Sulawesi Selatan yang menerima penghargaan ini dalam peringatan Hari Bahasa Ibu Internasional yang jatuh pada 21 Februari. Kedua daerah tersebut adalah Pemkot Parepare dan Pemkot Makassar.
“Kami mencermati bahwa Parepare sangat peduli terhadap pelestarian bahasa daerah. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan berbagai kebijakan yang telah diambil, seperti menetapkan sehari berbahasa daerah serta mewajibkan muatan lokal bahasa daerah di tingkat SD dan SMP. Komitmen ini memperlihatkan keseriusan Pemkot Parepare dalam menjaga warisan budaya,” jelas Dewi.
Selain penghargaan dari Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa Kemdikdasmen, Pemkot Parepare juga mendapat penghargaan dari Komunitas Himpunan Pelestari Bahasa Daerah (HPBD) dan Perkumpulan Pendidik Bahasa Daerah Indonesia (PPBDI) Provinsi Sulsel. Penghargaan ini diberikan sebagai bentuk apresiasi atas komitmen Pemkot Parepare dalam melestarikan bahasa daerah.
Kepala Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Parepare, Makmur, menyampaikan rasa syukur atas penghargaan yang diterima dalam waktu kurang dari 24 jam setelah Tasming Hamid dilantik sebagai Wali Kota Parepare.
“Alhamdulillah, dua penghargaan ini menjadi yang pertama diterima oleh Wali Kota kami sejak dilantik. Ini bukan sekadar kebetulan, tetapi sebuah pertanda baik atas komitmen beliau terhadap dunia pendidikan, khususnya dalam pelestarian bahasa daerah,” ujar Makmur.
Saat ini, Wali Kota Parepare Tasming Hamid dan Wakilnya, Hermanto, tengah menghadiri acara retreat kepala daerah se-Indonesia di Magelang. Namun, penghargaan ini diharapkan menjadi pijakan awal yang kuat dalam menjalankan kepemimpinan mereka di Parepare.
Dengan raihan prestasi ini, diharapkan komitmen pelestarian bahasa daerah di Parepare semakin kuat, sekaligus menjadi inspirasi bagi daerah lain untuk melakukan hal serupa.
