Rombongan dipimpin Wakil Wali Kota Pagar Alam, Hj. Bertha, didampingi Staf Ahli Wali Kota, Dedy Suryadi Lagoan, Kadis Ketahanan Pangan dan Perikanan, Jefri Zulfikar, serta Kabid Dinas Pertanian, Desy Rahmawati.
Sementara Wabup Sidrap didampingi Asisten Pemerintahan dan Kesra, Muhammad Iqbal, Kadis Peternakan, Suharya Angriani, Kabag Kerja Sama, Andi Besse, dan Kabag Perekonomian, Rimba.
Kunjungan ini merupakan bagian dari studi tiru pengembangan produksi dan distribusi telur konsumsi. Dalam sambutannya, Wakil Wali Kota Pagar Alam menyampaikan apresiasi atas sambutan Pemkab Sidrap.
“Sidrap telah lama dikenal sebagai sentra produksi telur ayam ras terbesar di Indonesia Timur, bahkan menjadi penopang kebutuhan protein hewani di Sulawesi, Kalimantan, hingga Papua,” ujar Hj. Bertha.
Ia mengatakan, kunjungan ini bertujuan mempelajari praktik-praktik unggulan Sidrap dalam pengembangan usaha peternakan ayam petelur, efisiensi produksi, manajemen kandang, distribusi hasil produksi, serta stabilisasi harga dan pasokan telur.
“Kami yakin, dari kunjungan ini akan terbangun kolaborasi antardaerah untuk memperkuat ketahanan pangan nasional,” tambahnya.
Wakil Bupati Sidrap, Nurkanaah, menyampaikan bahwa sejarah peternakan ayam petelur di Sidrap dimulai sejak 1980-an, dengan wilayah Tanete sebagai pionir.
Ia menjelaskan, saat ini peternakan telah menyebar ke seluruh wilayah Sidrap, menjadi sumber penghidupan bagi banyak warga. Populasi ayam petelur kini diperkirakan mencapai 4,5 hingga 4,8 juta ekor.
“Peternakan ayam di Sidrap sempat terpukul akibat flu burung, tapi kini kembali bangkit. Bahkan, beberapa peternak telah menerapkan sistem kandang tertutup (closed house) yang lebih modern,” jelas Nurkanaah.
Ia menambahkan, selain ayam petelur, Sidrap juga memiliki peternakan ayam broiler dan bebek. Pemerintah daerah sedang mendorong pengembangan bebek sebagai bahan baku kuliner khas Sidrap seperti bebek palekko.
“Kebutuhan bebek untuk rumah makan di Sidrap bisa mencapai 5.000 ekor per hari. Saat ini sebagian masih dipasok dari luar daerah, sehingga kami mulai mendorong masyarakat ekonomi rendah untuk beternak bebek melalui bantuan bibit,” terangnya.
Sebagai bagian dari kunjungan, rombongan dijadwalkan mengunjungi salah satu peternakan ayam petelur di Sidrap.
